The task

One Parent Families Scotland is the leading charity working with single parent families in Scotland. They required a new website that could function as a resource as well as help them actively engage with their users.

It was important the site met WCAG AA accessibility standards to ensure the organisation can reach as many people as possible.

When wire-framing, barriers like literacy and developmental disorders were considered. The site features different ways to access information. Prominent signposts to online chat or voice support supplement the search functionality and carefully selected deep links.

The pastel accent colours, charming illustrations, and rounded edges help make the site feel friendly and inviting.

The One Parent Families Scotland site is simple and intuitive to use on mobile with a menu that lets the user drill down easily to the content that interests them.

As well as featuring a wealth of well structured support articles, the site includes a wellbeing tool, an 'ask a expert' forum, news, and a podcast. It's a great example of how a lot of different content can co-exist happily as long as it's well considered with a target audience in mind.
